Updated

DaySight has no accounts and doesn't sell or share your data. Here is everything it touches.

Your place

To show your light, DaySight needs to know roughly where you are. You choose a place by searching for it or by letting your browser share your location. Either way, DaySight saves the place in your browser's storage on your device, along with the last few places you picked, so it's there next time. It is not sent to a DaySight server or stored anywhere else. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

On the guide and city pages, DaySight suggests a nearby city using the approximate location Vercel, our host, works out from your IP address. That guess is used for the page you're on and not stored.

Services that see a request

  • Place search sends what you type to Photon, run by Komoot, which finds matching places.
  • Cloud cover sends your place's coordinates to Open-Meteo for the forecast.
  • Fonts load from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address like any web request.
  • Hosting is by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs.

Analytics

DaySight counts visits with DataFast: which pages are read, where visitors come from, and their country and device type. It sets no cookies. To avoid counting one visit twice, it uses an anonymous ID made from a one-way hash of your IP address and browser, which resets every 24 hours. Nothing is used for advertising, and there are no ad or social media trackers on DaySight.
